Naguib S. Sawiris

Naguib S. Sawiris is a chairman and entrepreneur with experience across public markets, large-scale destination development, technology entrepreneurship, and complex strategic situations.
Destination Development:
As Chairman of Orascom Development Holding, he has overseen the continued evolution and strengthening of a multi-decade destination development platform. Under his chairmanship, EBITDA reached ~CHF 189m in FY 2024 (last full year as a public company), representing over 2x growth in under five years, alongside a broader repositioning of the business and its core destinations.
Transactions & Capital Allocation:
He has been directly involved in a range of complex transactions and capital decisions, including public market processes such as take-private and delisting dynamics, major capital increases, and landmark partnerships such as the Andermatt-Sedrun transaction with Vail Resorts. This transaction alone resulted in ~CHF 150m of investment into Andermatt and introduced a leading U.S. operator, materially increasing the destination’s global visibility and market access.
Technology & Entrepreneurship:
Alongside this, he has built a strong track record in technology entrepreneurship, as founder and chairman of multiple U.S.-based ventures and investor in over 100 startups. He is currently focused on scaling LeapHealth, which is built around a mission to make life-changing treatments more accessible while reducing unnecessary cost and complexity for patients and employers.
Complex Situations:
He has also operated in high-stakes environments, including leading a multi-year effort to stabilize a large European travel operator in the aftermath of COVID, which severely disrupted the global travel industry. This involved a complex restructuring process with government stakeholders, investors, and creditors. The business ultimately entered bankruptcy, with the process conducted under significant pressure and with a strong emphasis on integrity and stakeholder responsibility.
Institution Building:
In parallel, he founded Manara School, a non-profit leadership academy in Egypt designed to identify and develop exceptional students through a highly selective, academically rigorous, and values-driven model focused on long-term leadership and impact.
